Pds.# 3 and #6 Basic Art and Drawing - All students who have completed their cartoons and foamboard magnet will begin working on a 5 step "Metamorphic Drawing"

Pd #5 Graphics -All students are to complete their illustrated shopping bag when done they will work on their entry for the logo contest sponsered by S.T.I.

Pd.# 7 Sculpture and Advanced Sculpture- students continue work on relief -carving of "Spartan" to be completed in the next 2 weeks

Pd. #1 &th Grade Art - Students are currently working on a 3-D stocking Sculpture.Any student done will work on Stipling Project. All Sculpture projects due for grading and critique by May 17th.

Pds. #3 and #6 Basic art & Drawing - Students currently finishing up all wood -carvings to be taken home.All students should be well under way with their Cartooning unit.All cartoon projects due at end of week friday May 21st. Final project underway "Metamorphic drawings".

Pd. #4 Graphics- All students currently designing a shopping bag for a business they would like to own. Project must contain an illustration and location to be done on actul shopping bag in color, using various resources available.

Pd. 7 Advanced Sculpture and Sculpture - Students finisjing up on solving various problems in Sculpture they have set out to solve. Students working with wood, clay , and 3-D painting projects.

May 3rd - 7th

Period #1 7th Grade Art - All students at this time have been introduced to a new project."3-D Stocking Sculpture. Students will be assembling their individual sculptures at this time then proceeding to seal the project with gesso in order to apply their paint.

Periods #3 and #6 Basic art and Drawing - All students who have completed their stipling and relief wood carvings are currently working on a a unit of cartooning by creating characters and drawing various views. Students will end project by completing a full 4 block cartoon strip.

Period #4 Graphics class- All students are continuing work on a restaurant menu (4 pages) Students are to use Photoshop and Microsoft word to create their menu.

Period #7 Advanced Scuplture and Sculpture - Students are to continue on solving individual projects they have undertaken ( clay, wood and styrafoam cup project)

April 26th -30th

Pd. #1 -7th Grade Art - Students are to continue finishing up their "Movie Posters" all posters are due by April 30th to be critiqued and graded.Students will then be introduced to 3-D stocking sculpture project.

Pds. #3 and 6 Basic Art and Drawing- All students must complete their wooden relief carvings by end of week to be graded. Students will next work on creating a cartooning project,first drawing 10 faces,then adding bodies to the faces,and finally drawing 3 different views of their main character.This project will be completed with a 4 box cartoon strip.

Pd. #5 Graphics - All students are currently working on a restaurant menu using photoshop or another program to work on their menu. Students must include information that was relavent to their menu.

Pd. #7 Sculpture and Advanced Sculpture - Students here are completing individual sculptures they have choosen to pursue and complete. (Wood-carving, foamboard, and clay)

April 19th - 23rd

Pd. #1 (7th Grade Art) All students currently working on "Movie Poster Contest" continuing to work on design and lettering on final draft. All posters to be completed by end of month, and taken to Regal Theaters to be judged for free movie passes.

Pds #3 and #6 (Basic art and Drawing ) Students are to continue work on wooden relief carving project. All projects due by April 30th! Students will next begin a Cartooning project.

Pd #4 (Graphics )-Students are currently finishing up their t-shirt design. Next project will be to design a restaurant menu. Here students will combine their creative talents as well as their ability to use their knowledge with Photoshop and Microsoft Word to create and personalize their own restaurant menu.

Pd 7 ( Advanced Sculpture and Sculpture) Students here are solving their own individual art problems using various resources and materials.Clay, wood and cardboard are currently being used to complete sculptural projects.

April 5th- 9th

Pd. #1- 7th Grade - This is the start of a new marking period with a new class. Students will be given an introduction to Art class covering all projects, expectations and classroom proceedures. Students will also be introduced to the first project with examples shown to students. First assignment being a Movie Poster contest held in conjunction with Regal theaters @ the Schuylkill Mall.

Pds. # 3 and 6 Basic Art and Drawing classes - Students are to continue work on either one of two projects assigned "Stipling" or a "Relief Woodcarving"

Pd.# 4 -Graphics- All students currently working on a concert t-shirt design to go along with their concert poster. Any student done may start on ideas for their package design and bottle label.

Pd. #7- Sculpture and Advanced Sculpture- All students currently working on Cardboard Sculpture or Styrafoam cup sculpture ( 2 students on clay sculpture)

Pd. #1 (7th Grade Art Class) All students must complete "Create an Ad" project by Tuesday, March 30 to be entered in contest. Students that are done are working on the 3D stocking sculpture as the final project for the 9 weeks.

Pd. #3 and Pd. #6 ( Basic art and Drawing ) students also finishing "Create an Ad"project for contest due also Tuesday March 30th. All students done will be working on either their Stipling project or starting their Relief Carving project.

Pd.#5 Graphics Class- "Create an Ad" projects due. When done students will continue on their designs for concert t-shirts in Photoshop program on computer.

Pd. #7 Sculpture and Advanced Sculpture - Students are continuing to work on their 3-D cardboard sculptures as well as select students using clay as a sculpture medium for thier projects.

Pd. #1 7th Grade Art - students are to continue work on their "Create An Ad" project for Standard Speaker contest. All students must have sand-blasting mirror project done and graded by Wednesday March 24th.

Pds. #3 & #6 Basic Art and Drawing all students finishing up "Create An Ad" project. Stipling project introduced along with ideas for a wood relief carving. Critque at end of week.

Pd. #4 Graphics- students also on "Create An Ad" project if done will be doing their concert t-shirt design in conjunction with their concert poster.

Pd. # 7 Sculpture and Advanced Sculpture- students are working on a 3-D cardboard sculpture,which they will cut from recycled boxes.The design project will be sealed with gesso,and then painted.

Pds. 3 and 6 Basic Art and Drawing - All students are ending their torn paper mosaic which is due this Tuesday to be graded and returned to student. Students will then start on their "Create An Ad" design for newspaper.

Pd. # 5 Graphics - Students are finishing up their photoshop experience by doing a concert ticket. All students will then also do the "Create An Ad"

Pd. #7 Sculpture - All students are continuing on their wire sculpture projects. Students who complete their wire project will begin a 3-D Cardboard design project which was introduced last week.

Pd.#1 -7th grade Art Class -all students are currently working on "Sandblasting" project done on a 12" x 12" mirror tile from the drawings they have submitted.

Pd. # 3- Basic Art and Drawing - all students are currently working on a torn paper portrait using scrap magazines after submitting their sketches for review.

Pd.#4 - Graphics Class- after submitting their concert posters students will now continue on the project by designing a concert ticket in Photo Shop program.Upon finishing students will next design a concert T-shirt in relation to their ticket and poster.

Pd.#6 -Basic Art (same as Pd.#3)

Pd.#7- Sculpture and Advanced Sculpture- Students are continuing on designing a Wire Sculpture with a base.

*Note : This blog will cover the next 3 weeks as I will be out for surgery and another art teacher will be filling in. The following is what will be covered by students.

Period #1 - 7th Grade Art - students are to continue on Movie Poster they are currently designing. When completed they will be doing a "Stipling"or "Pointalism" project. Rendering 2 sketches before final draft. Students will then proceed to do a 12" x 12" sketch for sandblasting mirror project.

Period # 3 and # 6 - Basic Art and Drawing - Students will continue with lesson on package design by their original creation of a cereal box. Any student done will then proceed to work on a cartooning project, drawing 10 original faces, then selecting 5 and drawing bodies on them,when this is done they will draw 3 views of 2 figures (front, side, and back). Final part of this project will be to complete a 4 block cartoon strip. any student done with this project will proceed to design a t-shirt to be done with fabric crayons.

Period # 5 - Graphics - Students are currently working on a concert poster using their favorite rock group to perform in their hometown. Students will then also design tickets and t-shirts to promote their concert.

Period # 7- Sculpture- Students are currently working on a foam block carving. When students are done they will then begin a wire sculpture submitting 2 ideas prior to beginning the project. Samples from previous classes will be shown as well as work from professional artists.

Period # 1 -7th Grade Art Class
Students were currently introduced to the Art Program, covering the projects they will be working on for the 3rd marking period. The first assignment being a Movie Poster, here students will learn how to create a pleasing design for their movie poster incorporating, lessons on design as well as laying out lettering. Two ideas are to be turned in by Tuesday and all posters final draft will begin on Wednesday..
Pds. # 3 and #4 Basic Art and Drawing are to begin work on their lesson on package design. After submitting 2 ideas students will pick their best draft to begin their front panel.When panels are drawn and colored the may begin construction of their respective packages.
Pd. #5 Graphics - This class is currently designing a concert poster for the band of their choice advertising their performance in their hometown. Time, Date, Location , and cost of Admission must be included in their design as well as a graphic illustration.
Pd. 7 Advanced Sculpture and Basic Sculpture - All students were assigned a carving project which they are doing from a foam carving block. Students drew 3 views (top, side, and front )before any carving took place.

Studio Art Class Pd.#1, Advanced Sculpture , Sculpture, Pd. 7 and Cartooning Pd. 5 classes are to wrap up their individual projects for completion by wednesday Jan. 20th. All projects will be graded and returned to students on that day. These classes end for the semester.
Basic Art and Drawing classes Pds. 3 and 6 are to continue work on package designing (their cereal box )
Thursday two new 7th grade classes will be introduced to the art program for the 3rd nine week marking period. Students will be given their first assignment.on friday January 22nd.

Pd.#1 Studio Art class will continue work on individual projects they have choosen to pursue. A review of past projects and research done previously in class will occur before final exam is given. Basic Art classes pds. # 3 and #6 are to continue on designing their personal vanity plates,any student done will be introduced to a unit on package design. A comprehensive review of everything covered during the semester will be implemented before the mid-term exam. Cartooning class 5th period will continue on their next page of comic book and information will be reviewed before final exam.Both Sculpture and Advanced Sculpture Pd.#7 are to continue on their projects with information for review also given to prepare for final exams.

Studio Art class students are to complete individual projects they have choosen to pursue.Review will be held this week to prepare students for their final exams which will be scheduled the following week.
Basic Art and Drawing classes Pds.3 and 6 are in the process of designing their own vanity license plates which must contain an illustration or personal logo along with typography. Students in these classes will also have review for mid-term exams.
Cartooning students are all to continue on their completion of their next page for comic book. Final exam review will also be set up this week to prepare for final the following week.

Most students in Basic Art and Drawing are to finish their Holiday ornaments,or start on their license plate design.Students in elective courses (Cartooning, Studio Art, and Sculpture and Advanced Sculpture are to also finish up loose ends on their individual projects.Wednesday students will be allowed to attend gym program.

Students in this class are doing free choices, in an attempt to solve their individual problems they have set out to accomplish. In both basic Art & Drawing classes students are to continue work on their 3-D stocking sculptures,when done they will work on posters for Alcohol Awarness contest. In cartooning class students are finishing up their character for a fridge magnet then proceeding to the work for their comic book cover. Both Sculpture and Advanced Sculpture are pursuing individual projects similar to Studio Art class, if they are done they are doing a group project (of a relief carving ). Critque and review of student progress on their work held at end of week.

Students in all art classes will be introduced to classroom procedure reguarding conduct, projects to be assigned, what materials will be used and where they are located. Students will also see previous examples of projects done by past students as well as those done by other artists. All assignments will be discussed and critiqued thoroughly including due dates of each and how they intend to accomplish the task at hand. Individuality and creativity will be a strong focal point.
